Five partisans who died in the battles with the Nazis are buried in the new village cemetery: Vilibald Olipic from Trnje nad Kaplo ob Dravi / Dornach bei Kappel an der Drau, born on 22 October 1920, died on 23 April 1945, at the Ogris homestead in Rute nad Borovljami / Rauth bei Ferlach; Franc Gräflinger from Podljubel / Unteloibl, born on 6 October 1889, died in his home village on 9 May 1945; Ignac Weiss from Podljubel / Unterloibl, born on 16 August 1921, died on 10 May 1945, also in his home village.
On the new gravestone erected by the Association of Carinthian Partisans in 1971, the name of Jožef Cigovc (born 17 October 1901, died 11 May 1945) is carved alongside the above-mentioned names. Like Gräflinger and Weiss, Cigovc also fell in the fight with the fascist gangs retreating from Yugoslavia. It is not yet known where Cigovc's body is buried - in the cemetery of Borovlje / Ferlach or in the cemetery of Glinje / Glainach. It is also possible that his body was thrown into the river Drava / Drau by the Nazis or their helpers.
Among the fallen partisan fighters, Ulrich Olipic-Peter, the father of the fallen partisan Willibald Olipic, is also buried in the cemetery in Podljubelj / Unterloibl (the way the name is written on the family grave: Willibald). Olipic had been active in favour of the working class since 1928. In 1943 he joined the partisans. The Gestapo, who had come on his trail, wanted to arrest him, but he escaped and went among the partisans with his wife Lenija and their son Willibald. He died on 17 December 1964 from the consequences of the hardships of his two-year partisan life. As a severely handicapped person, he was self-sacrificingly involved in Slovene organisations throughout the years after the war. For many years he was the first vice-president of the Association of Carinthian Partisans.
