Bleščeča planina / Rossalm

During the harsh winter of 1945, a small number of Carinthian partisans and activists found emergency shelter in a cave under Arihova peč. On the basis of treason, the German police surrounded the frostbitten fighters in the deep snow and killed eight of them (four of them women). Only a few of them broke out of the enemy's ring.
In 1959, the Slovenian Mountaineering Association opened its own mountain hut two hundred metres above the partisan bunker, today known only as "Huta na Bleščeči"(Hut on Bleščeča). In 1975, the Association of Carinthian Partisans fixed a metal plaque in the living room of the hut with a text in both regional languages:

In memory of the eight partisans who died for our freedom
On 9 February 1945 at the Arihova peč.

Those who where killed at Arihova peč are buried in the cemetery of Šentjakob / St. Jakob. Their names, carved into the monument there, are:
Ivan Kordež-lvan, Ivan Bohinc-Džon, Marija Žilavič-Mira, Cirila Kržišnik-Tona, Franc Bogataj-Rok,
Mila Kmet-Andreja, Franja Markelj-Breda and the fighter Rudi.

Since 1979, the Slovenian Mountaineering Association Celčovec / Klagenfurt, the Slovenian Sports Association and the Slovenian Cultural Association "Rož" in Šentjakob / St. Jakob have been organising the winter hike "Arihova peč" every year on the first Sunday of March in memory of the fallen fighters.
